Guggul is a gum resin extracted from the Commiphora mukul tree, which has played a major role in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Some preliminary research suggests that it helps maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. The active constituents of Guggul are the E & Z Guggulsterones, which provide these effects. Guggul is also an antioxidant and may help support normal levels of inflammation in the skin and joints.
