Staying active isn’t easy whether we enjoy a good workout or not. Scheduling time to go to the gym, for a run, or any other manner of exercise can be difficult, but for those of us who do so know that it’s worth it no matter the roadblocks. However, what happens if the roadblock is not being able to leave your house? Believe it or not, there are many ways to continue your activity even without a state of the art home gym.
We understand that being healthy truly is a lifestyle. While everyone has a unique reason for choosing to be healthier, there are many reasons to do so. From living longer lives, having more energy, and being happier, there aren’t many – if any – downsides to consistent exercise. Staying indoors shouldn’t have to keep you from that! The question is: can you stay fit while staying home? The answer is a resounding yes! Here are 4 simple bodyweight workouts you will love.
Pushups
You’ve worked hard for your muscles and it might seem impossible to keep them without an intricate set of weights, pull up bars, or medicine balls. In reality, there are many ways to keep our arms fit inside or outside of the gym. One of the ways to keep our biceps, triceps, and shoulders strong is a common workout no matter where you’re at, pushups. Pushups are a great opportunity to work several muscles in your arms with your bodyweight alone. Not only are pushups easy to do in the comfort of your own home, but they can also be adjusted to meet your goals or needs whether you’re just starting out and do pushups on your knees or need more of a challenge with a one-armed pushup.
Lunges
If you’re looking to strengthen your legs and glutes (who isn’t?), lunges are a great option! We love lunges because you can do them stationary in your home or walking around your neighborhood. Not only are lunges a great workout for your legs, but they also help strengthen your core and balance!
Crunches
If you’re working on getting a set of abdominal muscles for when you do leave your home, there’s no better place to start than crunches. Crunches are a classic inside and outside of the gym for many reasons. Not only are they easy to do anywhere, but they’re also extremely effective! While crunches are a classic, they can also be modified to target other parts of your body with a simple twist or stretch.
Jumping Jacks
It’s difficult to keep up with our cardio routine inside our homes. Without a treadmill, bike, or elliptical, it can seem impossible to get our heart rate up. That’s where a favorite grade school classic comes in. Jumping jacks are an underrated solution to stationary cardio. Jumping jacks help warm up your body, get your heart rate up, and strengthen your legs. What more could you ask for from a workout?
